    Obtaining a crypto license

We provide legal support in the process of obtaining crypto licenses. These licenses entail the right to exchange fiat money for cryptocurrencies and vice versa, exchange one cryptocurrency for another, as well as storing client assets. Our assistance is based on years of experience in supporting cryptocurrency projects at all stages, from business launch to ongoing operations.

The timeline for obtaining a license depends on the jurisdiction and can range from 3 to 12 months. It is worth mentioning that there are certain jurisdictions where operating a cryptocurrency exchange is permitted without the need for a specific license. In such jurisdictions, it is possible to set up a crypto company within a few weeks.

We can assist you in selecting the most suitable jurisdiction for your business model, taking into account your budget expectations, desired customer geography, tax and reporting preferences, as well as the desired level of license prestige.

As part of the process of obtaining a crypto license, we can provide turnkey services that include jurisdiction selection, company registration, opening bank and merchant accounts, assistance in hiring local personnel, contractual legal support for your business, policy drafting, and finding partners to ensure liquidity and IT solutions.

    THE MOST POPULAR JURISDICTIONS:

    Europe

    EU and MiCA Regulation

Since January 2025, the EU has been implementing the MiCA regulation. The document unified the requirements for crypto-asset service providers (CASP) in all EU countries and effectively replaced the previously existing local regimes.

Advantages of a European license: Clarity and transparency of regulatory requirements, compliance with which makes it possible to freely provide a wide range of services in the prestigious European market. In addition, a European license opens access to opening corporate accounts in reliable financial institutions and banks.

For crypto companies operating until 2025, many jurisdictions have the opportunity to continue providing services while their license application is being considered.

    Bosnia and Herzegovina

This jurisdiction can be a good alternative for those who are not ready to comply with the strict rules of MiCA, but would like to stay closer to the European market.

Advantages: Optimal taxation of company income and activities in the cryptocurrency sector. The absence of strict requirements of the regulator, which does not prevent companies with VCSP regulation from opening accounts in local banks, as well as accounts in European financial institutions. This solution is great for startups, because for a relatively low price you have access to a wide range of services, including: storing assets on behalf of the client, exchanging assets for fiat and vice versa, managing a trading platform.

    Latin America

    El Salvador

There are two types of licenses: Bitcoin Service Provider (for working with Bitcoin) and Digital Asset Service Provider (for all other assets). Advantages: Clear legal framework for licensing and operations. The license can be obtained quickly, though it requires the development of internal procedures and software. The regulator is open to communication. Income earned outside El Salvador is exempt from corporate tax. Shareholders and directors may be non-residents.

    Argentina

Advantages: The prestige of the jurisdiction allows for free operation and inspires trust among partners across the continent, despite the low cost of obtaining a license and its maintenance and low requirements for the minimum authorized capital. The impartiality of the regulator determines the possibility of opening accounts in local banks and payment systems, as well as the absence of requirements for the residency of the director. Among the available types of activity: the exchange of digital currencies for fiat, as well as the issue of stablecoins and tokens secured by other assets. The entire process of obtaining takes 4 months.

    Other Solutions

    South Africa

Advantages: A crypto friendly regulator, which results in a large number of successful cases of obtaining a license, more than 200 companies have received a license. In addition, South Africa is a jurisdiction with a reliable reputation, which allows businesses to enter international markets. With a license, you can provide the following services: exchange of virtual assets, custody services, issuance of tokens.

    Georgia

Advantages: Favorable and transparent legal environment for crypto business development. No VAT or corporate income tax. Access to local payment solutions. Ability to serve both local and international clients. Possibility to open a Georgian bank account and operate in the Georgian lari. Licensed services include crypto exchange, transfers, storage/management, trading platform operation, and ICOs.

    New Zealand

Advantages: A clear and favorable legal environment, which determines the prestige of the jurisdiction, which allows you to work freely in many markets, in particular, in the markets of Asia and Oceania, open accounts in reliable payment institutions, and also inspires confidence in potential partners. The New Zealand government is focused on attracting foreign investment, the consequence of this is the absence of requirements for the authorized capital and residency of beneficiaries, as well as the ability to obtain crypto registration remotely.

    United Kingdom

Advantages: The UK market offers huge opportunities for crypto businesses, from access to cutting-edge financial services to a large potential customer base. While the UK does not offer the cheapest crypto license, the strategic benefits of operating in the country often outweigh the initial costs. Obtaining a crypto license in the UK offers significant benefits, including increased business legitimacy, access to a large and dynamic market, and the ability to transact in the British pound. However, the process of obtaining a license is quite complex and requires going through many steps. There are a lot of factors to consider and a significant amount of work to achieve the desired result.

    Offshores

    Panama

Advantages: The lack of a regulatory framework for high-risk industries such as cryptocurrency services does not prevent regulators from treating crypto activities positively. In addition, income received outside Panama is not taxed. Based on this, business registration ensures a quick and inexpensive start to the project.

    Costa Rica

Advantages: No legal framework regulating high-risk sectors such as crypto which is due to the positive attitude of the government towards international crypto business, which determines the absence of taxation on income received outside Costa Rica. Business registration allows for a quick and affordable project start. Based on this, business registration provides a quick and inexpensive start to the project. It should be noted that Costa Rica’s registries are closed and publicly inaccessible.
